mini adventure: The Lands End Trail, Point Lobos, San Francisco

We were planning on being in Palm Springs this weekend, but a flu in the family put an end to that plan! I was disappointed to not be in 80 degree weather, by a pool, gazing at blue skies and shopping at the fashionable outlets, however, we made the most of staying in the city!

Today we grabbed our neighbor and headed all the way down Geary to Sutro Park, near Ocean Beach.  We hiked the Coastal Trail, and it was wonderful! Archaeological old baths, caves, crashing cliff waves, eucalyptus groves, stunning vistas, mysterious fog, the Legion of Honor, historical monuments, and a fair share of joking and silliness made for a great mini adventure!

Mounted Police. Riding horses + gorgeous ocean views = pretty awesome

At the start of the hike

Exploring the ruins of the Sutro baths, Cliff House in the background

Ah, he is just so. good. looking. (note the new mustache!)

 The Cave!

 Seal Rock.

In the cave with neighbor Kim.

 Eucalyptus Groves.

Legion of Honor.

And now, just for comparison, look at the fog difference in two hours!
We started the hike around 10:30! We are standing in the exact same spot.
(So much for the "Sunset" District!)

A wonderful mini-adventure to kick off my NYR!
